As part of the Trier Lecture Series on the Future of Europe, an event on the topic of freedom of expression will take place on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

At 4 pm sharp, a panel discussion will begin on the topic “Freedom of expression on social media” with Philipp Fernis (Minister of Justice of Rhineland-Palatinate), Prof. Dr Antje von Ungern-Sternberg, Dr Anna-Sophie Heinze and Lars Kettermann.

This will be followed at 6 pm sharp by a lecture entitled “To what extent is freedom of expression under threat in Europe?” by Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger (former Federal Minister of Justice).

The event will take place in Lecture Theatre 7 (Campus I, Building C) at the University of Trier.
