Freedom of expression versus hate and discrimination?

As part of our lecture series on freedom of expression in the digital age, we were delighted to welcome Priv.-Doz. Dr Sven Großmann from the University of Augsburg. In his talk, he examined the increasing prevalence of hate in digital spaces from a socio-political and legal perspective.

He placed particular emphasis on the current challenges in dealing with digital hate speech and incitement, as well as on the growing significance of anti-Semitism in the digital sphere.

The subsequent discussion impressively demonstrated just how complex the balance is between freedom of expression and protection against hate and discrimination online.
