Last week, we hosted Professor Daniela Stockmann (Hertie School) for a lecture on China’s digital governance, organized in cooperation with the CIUT. Drawing on her book Governing Digital China (with Ting Luo), she challenged common „Big Brother“ narratives and presented her concept of „popular corporatism“ to explain the bottom-up dynamics between the Chinese state, tech firms, and citizens.
Many thanks to Professor Stockmann for her insightful talk, to the CIUT for their great cooperation, and to all attendees for the engaging discussion.
