Review by Michael Martel
In his book “The Technology Trap: Capital, Labor, and Power in the Age of Automation”, Carl Benedikt Frey attempts to analyse the effects of the great technological advances of the modern era on the economy, society and politics of the past and to apply them to the present and future. In the foolhardy conviction that humanity can also learn from the past in this topic, the author stands up against the Hegelian caveat: “The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history”.
