Review by Lydia Wolff
The work “The Power of Computers and the Powerlessness of Reason” by Joseph Weizenbaum is one of the classics of legal philosophy on the digitalisation of decision-making processes that is well worth reading. In view of its publication in 1978, it is remarkable how up to date the problems addressed are. Even though computers were still filling entire rooms and buildings at the time of publication, the author – as a proven expert in this field – was no stranger to considerations such as the simulation of human abilities by artificial intelligence.
