Review by Fabian Hoffmanns
The book “Digital Discomfort” by Prof. Dr. Dr. Manfred Spitzer explains the problems and concerns of digitalisation in 32 surprisingly short chapters. The chapters, each with a meaningful and sometimes provocative title, focus on a supposed problem area of the digital world. The author often uses situations from everyday life to illustrate this. The book undoubtedly scores points through the combination of a simple presentation of possible problems and the imparting of technical and medical background knowledge. While some of the problems addressed are indisputable, others seem exaggerated.
